The Friday Filipino: Cheese… Food’s Blanket
Walk into McDonalds… right now… go… what do you order? Big Mac? A Quarter Pounder? How about KFC? A Double Down? Lets go to Subway… what do you get on your sandwich? Its Cheese. Cheese is everywhere… Go into an Olive Garden… you want a salad…. Want cheese on it? How about the soup? There is shredded cheese for you. What do you top pizza’s with? Sunshine and rainbows? no.. Here is some mozzarella for ya. Sub sandwiches, tacos and even sushi has cheese options.
Cheese. Say cheese folks, I am here to talk about cheese. There are so many kinds of cheese. Cheddar, Swiss, Provolone, Pepper Jack… there are dozens… hundreds… of cheeses…. Its over whelming. Cheese is also very affordable and easily available at the grocery store. It would probably days worth of research to actually compile all the different uses and kinds of kinds of cheeses. But why is there so many choices? Every cheese tastes different. Some work with well in salads, while others go great on a burger. I love pepper jack cheese on a burger. Its adds a great spice to the beefy delicacy.
My major opinion on why cheese is so abundant? It is because of all the things you can do with it. It gives every meal… every snack a little extra kick to it. Yes, I could have plain tortilla chips… or I could get some melted cheese, some jalapenos and make Nachos. I could just boil noodles, but I could add milk and cheese and make some classic macaroni and cheese. They make a beer cheese soup for petes sake, I mean, cheese itself is a meal. I love snacking on cheese and crackers on a lazy day.
Its simple, and makes everything great. Health wise? Sure, it can be fatty, but a little cheese never hurt anyone… unless you are lactose intolerant.
