New Team Member: Jen Sweet

by andy [Team Editor]

I’d like to take time this afternoon to introduce new Team EDR contributor Jen Sweet. Jen is a food enthusiast and home chef with her own blog Travels in Cooking. She will be writing the Sunday Suppers column here at Eat.Drink.Repeat.

One of the main reasons I reached out to Jen was because of the attention to detail she brings to her recipes that will resonate with our audience trying to duplicate at home.

Example, here’s a comparision of various steps in her versus my recipes.
INGREDIENTS
Hers— 1-1/2 cups finely chopped cooked chicken breasts
Mine— Some

INSTRUCTIONS
Hers— Place the butter and sugar in a separate large bowl and whisk together until pale and creamy
Mine— Stir

COOK TIMES
Hers— Bake at 300-degree oven for 45 minutes or till light brown.  Make sure to stir every 15 minutes
Mine— A while

As you can tell, Jen is a much better/clearer communicator of recipes than I. This is the main reason I cannot bake– Apparently 1/16th of a tsp of stuff makes a huge difference in some recipes.

Plus look at this great stuff that she cranks out!

Spinach, artichoke and cream cheese wontons

Spinach, Artichoke and Cream Cheese Wontons

Chicken, Cheese & Spinach Manicotti

Flip cake onto dish and drizzle with carmel!

Apple Bundt Cake

All I can say is that Sunday Suppers is in very capable hands and I cannot wait to see what goodness comes out of Jen’s kitchen next! In the mean time check out her blog, Travels in Cooking.
